PCES is a Scent-Free School
With many children and teachers having allergies, we ask that students do not wear perfume, aftershave, or men's cologne to school, as it is problematic to students and teachers. Thank you for keeping PCES a scent-free school.
School Cancellations and Delays
When school is cancelled or delayed, please listen for the announcement on Q106.5. The local television stations will also carry the information. You can also sign up for the call 'em all list. You will receive a phone call early in the morning saying that school is cancelled or delayed. If you are interested in being added to the call 'em all list, please call PCES at 876-4301.
Jump Rope for Heart
Students at PCES will be doing Jump Rope for Heart again this year. Collection envelopes will be going home with students on February 3rd and are due back on February 16th, the day that we jump. We are "jumping" to help fight obesity, promote good health and fitness, and helping to raise funds for research and programs to reduce heart disease, stroke, and their risk factors, and to improve health in people of all ages. Thank you ahead of time for helping to support this worthwhile and fun project.

Parents are reminded to send their child to school each Monday with their lunch money in an envelope with their child's name on it. The cost for a lunch is: reduced is $0.40 per day and full price is $1.60 per day. If your child would like another milk with their hot lunch or milk with their cold lunch, the cost is $0.30 per day.

Read Across America
March 2nd - the birthday of Dr. Seuss - is the single day NEA (National Education Association) has chosen to spotlight the importance of encouraging children to develop a passion for reading.
Change of Income?
Occasionally a family's financial situation might change during the school year. This could be unexpected, or in some cases, the result of seasonal changes. Parents are reminded that if for some reason your financial situation changes, even for temporary circumstances, your child may be eligible for free or reduced hot lunch. Application forms are available through the school. Please call PCES at 876-4301 if you would like one.

Keeping our Students Safe
We want to ensure safety when we release children to parents, friends, or relatives during the day or at dismissal time. Usually, staff members are very familiar with the adults who pick up children. Occasionally, "new faces" come into our building. If an adult is not familiar to staff members, we will be asking for identification before we let a child leave with the adult. If you are coming to the school for the first time, or if you are sending a relative or friend to pick up your child, be sure to send a note or call the school. Also, make sure that the adult has appropriate identification. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation as we work to keep our children safe.

Dyan McCarthy-Clark will be the guest reader. Students in grades K-6 need to bring an accompanying adult to share in the reading of books.
