The sixth grade field trip is Friday, June 4, and each child needs to bring in $2.00 to help defray the cost. We will be leaving school by 8:20 a.m. and arriving back at school at about 4:30 p.m., and students will need a ride home. We are also in need of chaperones. If you are interested in chaperoning on this trip, please contact your child's teacher in writing. There is one change in the itinerary: Lunch will be at Fort Point State Park.
HELP! We are in desperate need of 20 empty frosting containers for an end-of-year project. Please send them in whenever you can.
Homework: Sixth graders should be expected to do some homework each night. Spelling requires oral practice every night as well as a short written assignment. Children should be reading every night; some classes are assigned to read 15 minutes while others are assigned 10 pages. Some students need books covered, new folders and/or new pencils.
What's happening in classes? Social studies classes have begun work on their culture quests and ancient Greece. Children have signed up for their cultural project presentations. If they are bringing in food, they do not bring it in until the day they are presenting. Science classes are continuing with their weather unit. Math classes are working on probability and designing their own board games. Language arts classes have begun reading The Wanderer, a novel by Sharon Creech, about a sea voyage.
