Valentine Breakfast at Guilford Primary
Students at Guilford Primary School are looking forward to a Valentine’s Breakfast prepared by Dads on Monday, February 14th. Valentines will be exchanged sometime during the day. Teachers will send home class lists so that your child can give a valentine to each student in his/her class. Please contact Jimmy Bell (876-4025) or Stephen Northup (876-9739) if you would like to volunteer to help with the breakfast. Following are the times we need help:

Servers: Mon., Feb. 14 7:30 am
All Dads are welcome!
Parkman Preschool
The Parkman Preschool is accepting registration for the 2005-06 year. Space in the program is limited to 20 children. Applications can be obtained from Louise Ringle, Center Coordinator by visiting the preschool or calling 876-4450 or by letting your child’s teacher know that you would like an application.
School Cancellations and Delays
When school is cancelled or delayed, please listen for the announcement on Q106.5 first. WDME and the television will also carry the information, but might not have the news as quickly.
Red Cross Visit
As part of our Disaster Unit in Language Arts, the third grade invited a representative from the American Red Cross to share information about the organization. Ms. Hillary Roberts spoke about the history of the Red Cross, services they provide, and their involvement with disaster relief. Prior to Ms. Roberts’s visit, we placed a collection jar in the front hallway for students and adults to donate toward the tsunami relief effort. We collected over $130.00.
A big Thank You to all who helped with this worthy cause.
Lost and Found
Both schools have a growing pile of lost and found. Please come in anytime and check our lost and found boxes.
Sugar-Out Day 2005
Friday, February 4, 2005 is Sugar-Out Day. We are going to try to not eat sugar that day. It is an event to help celebrate national Children’s Dental Health Month. We would like to remind parents that they can help their child’s smile last a lifetime. A balanced diet, limited snacks, daily brushing and flossing and regular dental checkups are the key to a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Dental Sealant Program Coming to SAD #4
Recently SAD #4 received a grant from the Maine Bureau of Health, Oral Health Program, to apply sealants FREE to all second graders. Dental sealants are made of plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent cavities form forming in the grooves. This will be done by a Dental Hygienist who will come to the school. Applying sealants will only take a few minutes away from the classroom. All third graders that had sealants applied last year will be rechecked by the Dental Hygienist. Maine Smiles Matter
