Family Movie Day

HUGS is having their Family Movie Day on Saturday, January 28th from 2-4 pm.  The movie we will be watching is “ROBOTS” which is rated PG.

Valentine Breakfast at Guilford Primary

Students at Guilford Primary School are looking forward to a Valentine’s Breakfast prepared by Dads on Tuesday, February 14th.  Valentines will be exchanged sometime during the day.

Teachers will send home class lists so that your child can give a valentine to each student in his/her class.  Please contact Jimmy Bell (876-4025) or Stephen Northup (876-9739) if you would like to volunteer to help with the breakfast.  Following are the times we need help:

Set-up:       Mon., Feb. 13       5:00 pm

Cooks:        Tues.., Feb. 14     6:00 am

Servers:     Tues., Feb. 14     7:30 am

All Dads are welcome!

Valentine Carnations

Both schools will be selling carnations Tuesday, Feb. 14 for Valentine’s Day.  Each carnation costs $1.  The proceeds will be used for school activities.  Please send your carnation money to school in an envelope marked with your child’s name and the number of carnations you would like to buy.

Address and Phone Changes

If you have moved or changed your phone number, please contact Mrs. Cleaves at 876-4590 with your new information.  It is very important that we are able to reach you in case of an emergency.

Lunch and Milk Money

Please remember to send your child’s lunch and milk money in each Monday in an envelope with your child’s name on the front.  This is especially important because as of Monday, McKusick’s lunch money will be transported to Guilford Primary to be added to your child’s account.  We appreciate your help with this.

HUGS Meeting

The next HUGS meeting is on Monday, Jan. 30th at 6:30 at the McKusick School.  Hope to see you there!

Transportation Changes

Due to many problems lately, we want to remind you that if your child is making any changes in how he/she is getting home we MUST have a note.  For safety reasons, we cannot take your child’s word on where they are supposed to go.  Neither can we call parents at home or at work when buses are waiting for them to board.  If your child has a CLC program after school, they must attend unless we receive a note from you in the morning.  We appreciate your help with this.

Parkman Preschool

The Parkman Preschool is accepting registration for the 2006-07 year.  Space in the program is limited to 20 children.  Applications can be obtained from Louise Ringle, Center Coordinator by visiting the preschool or calling 876-4450 or by letting your child’s teacher know that you would like an application.

School Cancellations and Delays

When school is cancelled or delayed, please listen for the announcement on Q106.5 first.  WDME and the television will also carry the information, but might not have the news as quickly.

Lost and Found

Both schools have a growing pile of lost and found.    Please come in anytime and check our lost and found boxes.

Sugar-Out Day 2006

Friday, February 3, 2006 is Sugar-Out Day.  We are going to try to not eat sugar that day.  It is an event to help celebrate national Children’s Dental Health Month.  We would like to remind parents that they can help their child’s smile last a lifetime.  A balanced diet, limited snacks, daily brushing and flossing and regular dental checkups are the key to a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Dental Sealant Program Coming to SAD #4

Recently SAD #4 received a grant from the Maine Bureau of Health, Oral Health Program, to apply sealants FREE to all second graders.  Dental sealants are made of plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent cavities from forming in the grooves.  This will be done by a Dental Hygienist who will come to the school.  Applying sealants will only take a few minutes away from the classroom.  All third graders that had sealants applied last year will be rechecked by the Dental Hygienist.
