Sugar-Out Day 2004

Friday, February 6, 2004 is Sugar-Out Day.  We are going to try to not eat sugar that day.  It is an event to help celebrate national Children’s Dental Health Month.  We would like to remind parents that they can help their child’s smile last a lifetime.  A balanced diet, limited snacks, daily brushing and flossing and regular dental checkups are the key to a lifetime of healthy teeth and gums.

Dental  Health Month News

Dental Sealant Program Coming to SAD #4

Recently SAD #4 received a grant from the Maine Bureau of Health, Oral Health Program, to apply sealants FREE to all second graders.  Dental sealants are made of plastic material that is applied to the chewing surfaces of back teeth to prevent cavities form forming in the grooves.  This will be done by a Dental Hygienist who will come to the school.  Applying sealants will only take a few minutes away from the classroom.

All third graders that had sealants applied last year will be rechecked by the Dental Hygienist.
