Both schools will be
selling carnations Wednesday, Feb. 14th for Valentine’s Day. Each carnation costs $1. The proceeds will be used for school
activities. Please send your carnation
money to school in an envelope marked with your child’s name and the number of
carnations you would like to buy. Please make checks payable to your child’s
school.
The
next HUGS meeting is on Monday, Feb.
12th at 6:00 at the
Transportation Changes
Due to many problems lately, we want to remind you
that if your child is making any changes in how he/she is getting home we MUST have a note. For safety reasons, we can not take your child’s word on where they are supposed to
go. Neither can we call parents at home
or at work when buses are waiting for them to board. If
your child has a CLC program after school, they must attend unless we receive a
note from you in the morning. We
appreciate your help with this.
Kindergarten Registration
If your child
or if you know of a child that is going to be 5 years old by Oct. 15, 2007,
he/she will be eligible to attend kindergarten in August 2007. Registration will be March 19th. Please call Mrs. Speed at 876-4590 for more
information and an appointment.
March
2 – the birthday of Dr. Seuss – is the single day NEA (National Education
Association) has chosen to spotlight the importance of encouraging children to
develop a passion for reading.
On Friday,
March 2nd,
Mrs. Wright,
our wonderful cook, needs a couple of volunteers to help serve and to clean up
after the Green Eggs and Ham Breakfast. Please call her at 876-2656 if you can
stay and help her out. Thank you!
On
Friday, March 2, come celebrate Read Across America in
honor of Dr. Seuss’s birthday. That
morning, students will enjoy a school breakfast of green eggs and ham as they
listen to a Dr. Seuss favorite. In the
evening, please join us for “Snuggle Up With A Book”
from 6-7 pm. Students need to bring an accompanying adult to share in the
reading of books. Bring pillows,
pajamas, blankets and anything you need to feel comfortable. Local storyteller, Dyan
McCarthy-Clark, will entertain us with some tales. We hope to see you there!
The Parkman Preschool is
accepting registration for the 2007-08 year.
Space in the program is limited to 20 children. Applications can be obtained from Louise Ringle, Center Coordinator by visiting the preschool or
calling 876-4450 or by letting your child’s teacher know that you would like an
application.
If you have any old cell
phones lying around the house, please bring them to school and put them in the
collection box. HUGS will recycle the
phones as a fundraiser. Don’t forget to
bring in your Box Tops for Education and Campbells
Soup labels. These fundraisers are
ongoing and help us to bring programs like Chewonki
and the Planetarium to our schools.
Thank you for your support!
When
school is cancelled or delayed, please listen for the announcement on Q106.5
first. 103.1 WDME and the television
will also carry the information, but might not have the news as quickly.
Emergency Calling System
SAD #4 tested
out the new emergency calling system on the 1/19 snowday. If you do not want to receive the snowday calls at home, please contact the secretary at your
child's school and ask to be removed from the list. Your phone number will still be kept in our
all call system for emergency calls. If
you did not receive a snowday cancellation call on
the morning of 1/19 and would like to be added to this list, please contact the
secretary at your child's school and ask to be added. Or sign up online at: http://www.sad4.com/.
