Many students and parents arrived at Guilford
Primary decked out in pajamas and toting blankets, pillows, and sleeping bags
to celebrate Read Across America on Tuesday evening. The program sought to connect every child
with a book. It was heart-warming to
stroll through the halls observing parents and children enjoying a good book
together. A special thank you goes to
our guest storyteller, Dyan McCarthy-Clark.
Dr. Seuss would be pleased to know about all the activities which took
place nationwide in honor of his birthday!
The
PCHS AFS students will be selling green carnations at both schools on Thursday,
March 17. Each carnation costs $1. Please send your carnation money to school in
an envelope marked with your child’s name and the number of carnations you
would like to buy.
If your child or if you know of a
child that is going to be 5 years old by Oct. 15, 2005, he/she will be eligible
to attend kindergarten in August 2005.
Registration will be April 1st. Please call Mrs. Cleaves at 876-4590 for more
information and an appointment.
March 14-18 is School Spirit Week at
McKusick. During this special week, we
will have a theme for each day.
Additionally, Scholastic Book Fair will be visiting our school. We encourage you and your child to have fun
with the themes for this special week.
They include:
Monday – Sunglasses Day
Tuesday – Silly Hat Day
Wednesday – Dress Like a Story Book Character Day
Thursday – Get All Dressed Up Day
Friday – School Spirit Day (Early Release Day)

Chewonki will be at Guilford Primary on March 25
and at McKusick on March 24. The
Chewonki Foundation is located in Wiscasset, Maine. Chewonki provides an outreach program to
schools in Maine. The programs have been
created to help students discover and explore the lives of plants and animals
that comprise the world around them. The
Kinders will see a presentation called Fur, Feathers and Feet, Grade 1 will
have Owls in Maine, Grade 2 will enjoy Bats, and Grade 3 will learn about Birds
of Prey. Both schools want to thank the
HUGS group for sponsoring our visits from the Chewonki Foundation. If you would like to come enjoy the programs,
the times are:

The
Parkman Preschool is accepting registration for the 2005-06 year. Space in the program is limited to 20
children. Applications can be obtained
from Louise Ringle, Center Coordinator by visiting the preschool or calling
876-4450 or by letting your child’s teacher know that you would like an
application.
Bob Marley, a well known comedian, will be
entertaining at PCMS on Friday, April 1 at 6:30. Tickets cost $15.00 and are available at
PCMS, PCHS, Guilford Primary and all A.E. Robinson Convenience Stores.
The Project Read Calendars have been returned for
the month of February. We encourage
everyone to participate in this worthwhile program. Students who are responsible in returning
their calendar at the end of the month will receive a small prize. Following is the number of calendars returned
