BOOK FAIR AT McKusick

Thank you to all the staff, volunteers and parents who made our book fair a success. Our sales for this event were: $854.29 and our profit was $213.57. Alyssa Pearl-Ross was the winner of a Frisbee with her right on the mark guess of 54 seashells. Nathaniel Fanjoy was our runner up with a guess of 50 seashells and also wins a Frisbee. We had many correct entries for the treasure hunts. The randomly picked winners from the correct entries are: Alison Quimby and Adam Bagley. They both win a basket of beach toys. All students were entered in a random drawing for a free book. These winners are: Ashley Nanney and Shannon Parents. Congratulations to all our winners.

HUGS Meeting

The next HUGS meeting is on Monday, April 9th at 6:00 at the Guilford Primary School.  Hope to see you there!

Supplies

We have been working so hard that we have worn out some of our school supplies.  Please send new pencils and erasers to school with your child on Monday.  Thank you!

BOOK DONATION FROM CMP

Central Maine Power has donated 2 hard cover copies of 2006's Caldecott winning book "The Hello, Goodbye Window" by Norton Juster  (illustrations by Chris Raschka) to our elementary schools. Central Maine Power started donating books to local schools seven years ago and we have been very fortunate to receive them to expand our library.

GPS Book Fair

There will be a Mr. Paperback Book Fair at Guilford Primary School the week of April 9th. The Book Fair will be open during school hours.  Parents are welcome to stop in to browse.  Your child will have an opportunity to 'shop' at the book fair each day. Money earned from the book fair will be used to benefit the school.

Attendance

Please remember that it is important that your child get to school on time.  Breakfast is served at both schools at 7:45. Also please remember to call school if your child will not be attending.

Transportation Changes

Due to many problems lately, we want to remind you that if your child is making any changes in how he/she is getting home we MUST have a note.  For safety reasons, we can not take your child’s word on where they are supposed to go.  Neither can we call parents at home or at work when buses are waiting for them to board.  If your child has a CLC program after school, they must attend unless we receive a note from you in the morning.  We appreciate your help with this.

Parkman Preschool

The Parkman Preschool is accepting registration for the 2007-08 year.  Space in the program is limited to 20 children.  Applications can be obtained from Louise Ringle, Center Coordinator, by visiting the preschool or calling 876-4450 or by letting your child’s teacher know that you would like an application.

Child Development Services

Early intervention for children who have disabilities is crucial for future school success.  Child Development Services of Piscataquis County serves children 0-5 years of age (until Kindergarten) with disabilities.  Overseen by the Maine Dept. of Education, CDS-P is one of 16 sites in Maine that delivers special services to babies and preschoolers with disabilities.  Children with suspected delays and disabilities can be referred for screening by a parent.  Screening and evaluations are at no cost to the parents.  If your pre-schooler is eligible, services are provided at no cost to parents.  For infants and toddlers a sliding fee might apply if insurances aren’t accessed.  If you or someone you know, would like to refer a child, please call CDS-P at 564-3115.

If you are a parent of a child with a disability, or an interested community member and would be interested in becoming a member of the CDS-P Board of Directors, please contact Cindy Brown at 564-5115.
