Arts Alive

What a fabulous day we had on Arts Alive Day! We would like to thank our contributors: A supportive community member, Hardwood Products, Pride Manufacturing, Numberall. Without their financial assistance, Arts Alive wouldn't be possible! We would also like to thank our many volunteers. Many Hands Make Arts Alive!

Rummage Sale

Thank you! Thank You! Thank you! Our Rummage Sale was a great success! Thank you to Mrs. Lindberg for the wonderful idea and her tireless efforts in organizing the sale. Thank you also to everyone who donated items, bought items, and volunteered their time. To all of your credit, you helped raise $513.52. The money will help the teachers purchase a die cut machine for the schools. A big thank you to Hugs for donating an additional $500 towards the die cut machine!

Read Street Book Fair

Our book fair was a great success again this year. Our spring fair netted a total of $757.35 at the McKusick School and $651.88 at the Guilford Primary School, giving the McKusick School a profit of $188.34 and Guilford Primary a profit of $143.41 to be used for school activities. Each teacher selected free books for their classroom. Thank you for your support, but more importantly, for promoting literacy with your child(ren)!

Parkman Preschool

Parkman preschool continues to have openings for the 2003-04 school year. The program runs Tuesday through Friday from 8-12. If you are interested in obtaining an application or speaking with someone for more information, please call Louise Ringle at 564-7101 or Jeanie Ames 876-3732. Applications can also be picked up at McKusick School or the Superintendent's Office.

Library Books

As this year comes to a close, could you please check your child's bookshelves or other places where school or classroom library books may have gotten mixed up with his/her own? We would appreciate you sending any you find back to school.

Sing Along

All K - 3 students met at the McKusick School on Thurs., May 22 for a special Memorial Day Sing Along led by our music teacher Mr. Brown. The Sing Along featured patriotic songs in honor of servicemen and women who have died to protect our freedoms. Mr. Oliver was present to welcome the students, staff, parents and our special guests, the Carle family to the program. Mrs. Alberts spoke to the children about the meaning of Memorial Day. During the program, special recognition and tribute were given to Mrs. Priscilla Carle for her dedicated service to SAD #4 as principal/teacher at the McKusick School for over 20 years. The program concluded by singing the Star Spangled Banner and When Johnny Comes Marching Home. It was a great start to the Memorial weekend.

HUGS

The HUGS group will host a social event in the fall to welcome all parents. The HUGS Social will be held on September 3rd at the McKusick School. Further information will be announced as the date approaches.

The first HUGS meeting for the 2003-2004 school year will be on Tuesday, Sept. 30th. The staff would like to take this opportunity to thank HUGS for all their support this year! Without an incredible organization such as this, our children would not be able to have all the extra activities that this group sponsors to help make our schools special and unique.

By putting children first,

day after day,

you improve our school

in every way.

Thanks for all the work

you help us do.

We're grateful for

caring people like you.
