An Open House and Book Fair will be held on Thursday, September 5. The McKusick School will be open from 5-6:30 and the Guilford Primary School will be open from 5:30 -7:00. All students are encouraged to come and bring their families to show them their classroom and have them meet their teacher. A ReadStreet Scholastic Book Fair will be held at each school. Please stop in to browse. Money earned from the book fairs will be used to benefit the schools. The book fairs will be open Sept. 3-6, during school hours. Your child will have an opportunity to ‘shop’ at the book fair each day.
We would like to welcome Maureen Sylvain to our Elementary staff. Mrs. Sylvain is our new Home-to- School Liason. She is a licensed Social Worker with a strong clinical background and experience with family systems. She has already had the pleasure of visiting classrooms at both McKusick and Guilford Primary schools. Mrs. Sylvain will be working with students, parents, and teachers as issues arise that may detract from the students’ learning experience. She is looking forward to working with everyone to help create an effective learning environment.

We would like to extend a special invitation to all grandparents of McKusick School students. Come have a snack with your grandchild on Friday, September 6 from 9:45 - 10:30. Everyone will need to bring their own snack.
We would like to extend a special invitation to lunch for all grand-parents of
Guilford Primary students. Come eat a school lunch with your grandchild on Friday,
September 6th. Lunch schedule for this day will be:
Grade 3 11:00 - 11:45
Grade 2 11:45 - 12:30
Please return the slip at the bottom of the special flyer, along with payment
as soon as possible. Of course parents are welcome to join their child for lunch
anytime. An adult lunch is $2.50. Please let the school know by 8:30 if you would
like to purchase lunch.
The children from the Guilford Primary School will be walking to King Cummings Park in Guilford to take part in a nationwide commemoration of the attack on America. The ceremony begins at noon on Wednesday, September 11. This is being sponsored by the American Legion. Parents are welcome to attend. Please let us know if you do not want your child to take part by writing a note or calling 876-4590.
Throughout the school year, children will be going on educational field trips.
Parents will be notified of where and when the field trips will be. Please make
sure you sign and return the permission slip that gives your child permission
to go on field trips for this school year.
The SAD#4 parent group, HUGS (Having United Goals) will be meeting on Wednesday, September 11 at 6:30 pm at the McKusick School in Parkman. All interested parents and friends are encouraged to attend.
The first Early Dismissal Day will be on Friday, September 13. Students will be dismissed at 11:15 from McKusick and 11:30 from Guilford Primary. Teachers will be attending a writing workshop that afternoon.
On Friday, September 6, MacLean-Stevens Studio will be at the McKusick School to take individual portraits of each student. They will be taking pictures at the Guilford Primary School on Monday, September 23. Those of you who wish to purchase a package may do so by paying the full amount to the photographer at the time your picture is taken. Make sure you bring your prepay envelope with the Camera Card attached, and be sure to fill in all the information
requested on both sections. If your portraits are not satisfactory, your money
will be refunded. For those students who will not be buying a package, please
fill out and bring to the photographer the Camera Card section of your form.
Even if you do not order a picture package, you will receive a color class picture.

We need solid color contact paper and pringle potato chip cans. If you can help, send these items to G.P.S.

Your child’s teacher may send home order forms for you to purchase books
through book clubs at a discount. When ordering books from the book orders,
please make your checks payable to the book club (not to the teacher). It is
important to fill out each part of the order form - especially the bottom section
reserved for the child’s name. Please make sure that the order form and
type of payment (check or cash) be returned to school by the date indicated
on the order form. It takes approximately two weeks to receive the books once
the order has been sent in. It is truly a wonderful way to expand your child’s
library!
