Ranks close Friday, October 25. Rank cards go home Friday, November 1. The math section will be reported differently this year. We are piloting a new system based on state and federal requirements. Please call 876-4590 if you have any questions.
If you have a question about the math program, please call your child's teacher or make an appointment to visit a math class.
The HUGS Fall fundraiser (candy/gift wrap) was a huge success! Together we raised $5,746.78!!! This is a record amount! We would like to thank everyone for their participation!
In celebration of Halloween, we will be wearing black and orange. Please save your costumes and make-up for after school trick-or-treating activities.

Guilford Primary-October 29
We would like to welcome Mrs. Bates to Guilford Primary. She is here with us every morning to work with literacy groups for grades 2 and 3. Mrs. Bates lives at Whetstone Pond with her husband, Jerry. They are building their home themselves. Mrs. Bates taught school for 30 years, mostly in Hampden. They have two grown sons. Mrs. Bates enjoys gardening (especially wildflowers), hiking, canoeing, and cooking. Mr. and Mrs. Bates have a 33 foot sailboat which they enjoy sailing on Penobscot Bay. They are even planning to sail to Florida in a couple of years! We are fortunate to fund this position with a monetary donation from Mr. and Mrs. Elkins of Hinsdale, Ill. They are the parents of Margaret Templet-Drummond. It is nice to see that people recognize the importance of early literacy education and are willing to support our efforts. Reading is a gift that lasts a lifetime!
We would like to welcome Lauren Gabourel to Guilford Primary. Miss Gabourel is currently subbing as an Ed Tech III. She recently moved to the McKusick Farm in Parkman from Honolulu, Hawaii. Miss Gabourel also writes for the Piscataquis Observer. She loves to sing and used to visit elementary schools in New Mexico singing in children's operas such as Little Red Riding Hood.
Guilford Primary School and McKusick School continue the positive team approach to teaching reading with small group instruction. This allows all students to receive reading instruction at their level focusing on their learning strengths.
Mr. Webb, the movement instructor at McKusick, would like to remind parents that movement classes will take place outside whenever possible. It is important that students dress appropriately for the weather. It is especially important that they have a jacket and/or sweatshirt available for all movement classes.
