Parent Teacher Conferences

The elementary staff would like to thank parents for making time to conference with teachers about their child’s progress.  Your support is essential and does make a difference in your child’s education.

Holiday Concert

The elementary holiday concert will be held on Tuesday, Dec.20 at 6 pm in the PCHS gym.  Please mark your calendar.

Kids and Trees Growing Together

The kindergarten was very excited to have Steve and Elaine Law visit on Monday.  Through the Kids and Trees Growing Together program they learned about the lifecycle of trees.

Please Dress Warmly

Cold weather is here!  Please make sure to send your child with warm coats, hats, mittens and boots.  Remember that students are

expected to wear boots outside during the winter months and must have different footwear for inside the school.

HUGS Meeting

The next HUGS meeting is on Monday, Nov.28th at 6:30 at the McKusick School.  Hope to see you there!

Giving Tree

This year there will be no gift exchange among students.  Instead, we are asking any child who wishes to bring in a non-perishable food item to place it under the tree in our front halls.  The food items will be distributed to needy families in our area by our local Food Cupboard.  The following are some suggestions:  canned vegetables (especially carrots, green beans, and corn), canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, pasta variations, tuna fish, canned milk, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, Dinty Moore beef stew, canned soups, ravioli, canned beans, and jello.

SUPPER WITH A SIDE OF READING

A new after school literacy program is now being offered to all GPS & MCK students and their families. The program is called Supper With A Side Of Reading and will be held once a month at the Guilford Primary School Multipurpose Room. The program will include supper, an adult workshop on reading, children's story time and a family book checkout. The adult workshop and children's story time will run for 15 minutes. The first workshop will be "Tips For Reading To Your Children". The first program will be held on Wednesday, December 14th from 6:00-7:30 pm. This is a FREE program for our students and their families. For more info contact Charlotte Violette at 876-4590 or 876-2656.

Fund Raising

The Box Tops for Education collection box is in the lobby.  Please send in all specially marked General Mills box tops with your children.  A list of qualifying products has been sent home and can also be found at www.boxtops4education.com.

The Hannaford Helps Schools program has begun.  McKusick and Guilford Primary Schools are working together on this project, so please send any certificates you earn to either school.  This program ends Dec. 3rd.

The bottle for collecting the tabs off soda cans has arrived.  Please send your tabs to school to benefit the children at the Shriner’s Hospital.  Thank you for all of your support!
