Cold
Weather
Students and parents need to be reminded that cold
weather is here. Students do go outside
each day for recess and need to dress warmly (hats, mittens/gloves, jackets,
ski pants, boots). Our school policy
states that: Weather permitting,
students participate in recess each day.
Decisions to have recess during cold weather depend upon the temperature
and the wind chill factor. Students
should always dress for outside recess. Only
students with a medical excuse will be allowed to remain in the building during
scheduled outside recesses. Students
well enough to attend school will benefit from a short period of time outside
for fresh air and exercise.
Both schools have a large array of lost and found
items. At both schools, there is a box
in the front hall. Please come in and
check for lost items.
The next HUGS meeting is on Monday, Jan. 8th at 6:00 at the
If you have moved or changed your phone number,
please contact Mrs. Speed at 876-4590 with your new information. It is very important that we be able to reach
you in case of an emergency.
Transportation Changes
Due to many problems lately, we want to remind you
that if your child is making any changes in how he/she is getting home we MUST
have a note. For safety reasons, we
cannot take your child’s word on where they are supposed to go. Neither can we call parents at home or at
work when buses are waiting for them to board.
If your child has a CLC program after school, they must attend unless we
receive a note from you in the morning.
We appreciate your help with this.
Please remember to call the school when your child
will be absent or coming in late. You
may call as early as 7 am. When we have
not received a phone call, it will be necessary for us to call you to ensure
your child’s safety. If you are making transportation changes for your child, please send a note or call your child’s
school by 1:15. Please help us keep
your child safe.
SUPPER WITH A SIDE OF READING
Our next session of Supper With A Side Of Reading will be held on
Wednesday, January 10th at the McKusick School and January 17th
at the Guilford Primary School. Supper starts at 6:00 p.m. This month's menu features Chinese night and
this month's adult workshop topic is: Strategies For Comprehension. We do have
a few open slots available. Call Charlotte Violette at 876-4590 or Shelly Snow
at 876-2656.
On January 18,
2007, parents of Kindergarten and First Grade Parents are invited to come to the
McKusick School and help put together learning centers for our students. The school will be open from 4 – 7 p.m. for
the purpose of cutting, pasting, photocopying, and packaging important literacy
