It was so nice to see so many students and their families here for the Open House.
The Shriners want to thank us for helping to make this past year a big success in the collection of aluminum tabs for the children at the Shriners Hospital. The children in SAD #4 collected 60 pounds of aluminum tabs! We are collecting aluminum tabs once again this year. The money received from recycling tabs is used to buy medical and nonmedical items for Shriners Hospitals for Children. There is a collection container in our front hallway at both schools. Tabs may be sent in anytime with your child.
Special family gatherings were held at both schools last Friday in honor of our grandparents.
Who would have believed we would have such a fabulous turnout!
The Readstreet Scholastic Book Fairs were a success! Sales totaled $890.04 at Guilford Primary and $1,100.55 at McKusick. We earned $222.51 at Guilford Primary and $300.46 at McKusick to benefit the schools. In addition, each teacher selected $25 in free books to add to her classroom library. We would like to thank everyone for their support!
The Box Tops for Education collection box is in the lobby. Please send in all specially marked General Mills box tops with your children.
Your child's teacher may send home order forms for you to purchase books through book clubs at a discount. When ordering books from the book orders, please make your checks payable to the book club (not to the teacher). It is important to fill out each part of the order form-especially the bottom section reserved for the child's name. Please make sure that the order form and type of payment (cash or check) be returned to school by the date indicated on the order form. It takes approximately two weeks to receive the books once the order has been sent in. It is truly a wonderful way to expand your child's library!
The HUGS Fall Fundraiser has been sent home. A letter is enclosed explaining this fundraiser which is sponsored by our parent group. If you have any questions, please contact Michelle Patterson at 876-2053 for Guilford Primary and Pam Speed at 876-4726 for McKusick. The fundraiser ends Oct. 1. A big thank you to Michelle and Pam for chairing this fundraiser!
On Monday, September 23, MacLean-Stevens Studio will be at Guilford Primary School to take individual portraits of each student. Those of you who wish to purchase a package may do so by paying the full amount to the photographer at the time your picture is taken. Make sure you bring your prepay envelope with the Camera Card attached, and be sure to fill in all the information requested on both sections. If your portraits are not satisfactory, your money will be refunded. For those students who will not be buying a package, please fill out and bring to the photographer the Camera Card section of your form. Even if you do not order a picture package, you will receive a color class picture. The class pictures will not be delivered until spring.
**Information will be forthcoming.
The Lakewood Theater in Skowhegan will present a
fall production of Rapunzel on Friday, September 27. All students
at McKusick and Guilford Primary will be attending the hour long production.
Please let your child's teacher know if you would like to chaperone.
Parents are again reminded to send their child to school each Monday with snack milk(McKusick only) and lunch money in an envelope with their child's name on it.
Parents are to notify the school if someone else will be picking up your child at the end of the day. Any bus changes need to be made by 1:15.
