The
HUGS Fall Fundraiser has ended. We want
to thank everyone for participating!
Please
do not deliver invitations to birthday parties through the school system. It causes undue confusion and hurt feelings
when the invitations are given out in classrooms. If you wish to invite children to your
child’s birthday party, please mail the invitations yourself or invite the
children by phone. If you need addresses
and phone numbers, please call Pam at 876-4590.
The next HUGS meeting will be on October 16th
at 6:00. It will take place at the
We want parents to feel welcomed at
our schools and we also want to keep our children safe. If you need to come onto the schoolyard
during recess, please check in at the office first. Then talk to one of the
teachers on duty before you interact with your child. Several different staff members share the
responsibility of caring for our children on the playground and they do not
always know the parents and guardians.
Thank you for your help with this.
Please
remember that you must park in the parking lot not directly in front of the building in the morning and in the
afternoon. The buses need the space to
safely transport the students.
Please
remember that it is important that your child get to school on time. Breakfast is served at both schools at 7:45.
Also please remember to call school if your child will not be attending.
Please
remember to check your child’s school folder each evening and return it to
school the next day.
The
Box Tops for Education collection box is in the lobby. Please send in all specially marked General
Mills box tops with your children. A
list of qualifying products has been sent home and can also be found at
www.boxtops4education.com.
The
Hannaford Helps Schools program has begun.
McKusick and
The
bottle for collecting the tabs off soda cans has arrived. Please send your tabs to school to benefit
the children at the Shriner’s Hospital. Thank you for all of your support!
Parents
are again reminded to send their child to school each Monday with their
lunch money in an envelope with their child’s name on it.
October
31st
On
Oct. 31st, both schools will be wearing black and orange. Seasonal activities
will take place in the afternoon.
September is National Pediculosis (Head Lice) Month
Once
again, it is that time for everyone to become knowledgeable about and alert to
signs of head lice. The school nurse will check heads periodically and anytime
that a teacher or a parent reports that a child is scratching his/her head.
Head
lice travel from one child to another by head to head contact or sharing
brushes, combs, hair clips or hats. They do not fly. They do not jump. They
live on human heads and not animals. A
louse is difficult to see in the hair but an egg (nit) may be more easily
detected. The eggs look like dandruff, but cannot be flicked off the hair. Some eggs are brown; most are white. Check your child’s head often throughout the
school year. Encourage him/her to put winter hats into the sleeve of a jacket
and not to share the hat.
Whenever
the school nurse discovers a case, a letter will go home to parents to alert
you and to ask for your assistance in checking the children’s heads.
The school nurse will discuss with you the
steps necessary to eliminate this problem, should you discover it. Thank you for your help.
