Holiday Concert

The elementary holiday concert will be held on Tuesday, Dec.20 at 6 pm in the PCHS gym.  The music department is asking the children to wear certain colored tops for the performance.  Please do not buy one if your child does not have the color-just wear a festive color.  Thank you for your cooperation!

Grade 2-green

Grade 3 blue

Please Dress Warmly

Cold weather is here!  Please make sure to send your child with warm coats, hats, mittens and boots.  Remember that students are expected to wear boots outside during the winter months and must have different footwear for inside the school.

HUGS Meeting

The next HUGS meeting is on Monday, Dec. 19th at 6:30 at the Guilford Primary School.  Hope to see you there!

Giving Tree

This year there will be no gift exchange among students.  Instead, we are asking any child who wishes to bring in a non-perishable food item to place it under the tree in our front halls.  The food items will be distributed to needy families in our area by our local Food Cupboard.  The following are some suggestions:  canned vegetables (especially carrots, green beans, and corn), canned fruit, spaghetti sauce, pasta variations, tuna fish, canned milk, cereal, oatmeal, peanut butter, jelly, Dinty Moore beef stew, canned soups, ravioli, canned beans, and jello.

“Words for Thirds” Program

Third graders were very pleased to receive dictionaries from the local granges through the Dictionary Project:  Words for Thirds.  Walter Boomsma (Valley Grange 144) and Henry and Carol Flagg (South Sangerville Grange) presented the dictionaries to the students on Wednesday, Nov. 30.  Both students and teachers were appreciative of this wonderful opportunity made possible by our local granges.

SUPPER WITH A SIDE OF READING

Our program is full at this time. All families who are enrolled will have received a reminder notice sent home with their child.

Reading is Giving Program

Guilford Primary and McKusick School students have signed up for Scholastic's Classrooms Care Program.  This program helps get books to children and schools that need them. This year Scholastic will be helping children affected by Hurricane Katrina.   If each of our classrooms read 100 books by Feb. 17th, Scholastic Book Clubs will donate 1200 books to the children and schools that lost them!  We will be sending home a program page for you to keep track of books read.  After reading just 5 books with your child, fill out the form and return it to school.  Thank you for your help with this program and remember -- "A caring school is more powerful than any hurricane."

Thank you!

Mr. Haley (Guilford Primary custodian and driver of Bus 15) would like to thank everyone for the cards and kind thoughts while he was hospitalized.  We all enjoyed his visit on Monday and wish him a speedy recovery!
