Grade 4 Newsletter

January 7, 2005

v     Welcome New Year, and welcome to Chelsea in Mrs. Smith’s homeroom!

v     Congratulations to November HEROES from fourth grade: Joshua G, Brandon B, and Trevor D and December HEROES Rachael N, Cheyenne C, and Amanda Mo. These students have set wonderful examples for their peers by following our guidelines of honesty, effort, respect and responsibility, and helping others. Many thanks to them and their families!

v     We are nearly finished with Super Sleuths in our reading classes and will enjoy some book studies for a couple of weeks.

v     In writing classes we will be writing descriptions of some of our favorite things.

v     Math classes have begun learning how to divide using the partial quotients algorithm. We’re finding it is much easier to do if we know our multiplication facts! Mike W, Brittany P, and Delan P were the leaders of the Marathon the week before vacation.

v     Socials studies classes started learning about the Native American people of Maine.

v     Science classes have just finished their unit on electricity.

v     Reminder---January 17 is Martin Luther King Day. There will be no school. January 21 is an early release day.
