Grade 4 Newsletter
16 January 2004
ü Monday, January 19th is Martin Luther King Day, no school.
ü Students are encouraged to continue exercising and reporting the amount of time to homeroom teachers for our schoolwide trip around the world. If we make the trip, fourth graders will have a special snowshoe afternoon!
ü Paper towel rolls are still needed for social studies. Even if your child has brought his/her two, extras can be sent for others to use. The students are having a wonderful time learning about Maine history using the following websites: www.mainehistory.org and www.state.me.us/sos/kids/.
ü Practice those multiplication facts! It will make our daily work so much easier! We now know how to multiply large numbers. Have your child show you. He/she can also show you a fun game called Multiplication Wrestling! Remember that the Family Newsletter for each math unit has a list of suggested games with the page number of the Reference Book for directions to the game. These games will reinforce the concepts we are learning in class.
ü Congratulations to Brandon S, Kelly B, Ali T, and Nick S for being Leaders of the Facts last week! They did a terrific job on our weekly facts tests!
ü In science we have been learning the effects of insulation. How appropriate for this week’s Maine weather!
