Grade 4 Newsletter
19 January 2007
In science, students will
be starting a new unit on electricity.
Also Maine Energy Education Program (MEEP) will be visiting next week to
share some activities about energy. We
are in need of D size batteries for our electricity unit. If possible, please send in one or two. It would be greatly appreciated.
Next Friday, January 26th
will be the midterm for the second trimester.
Please remind your child to have all work caught up and turned in. Mid terms will be sent in the mail the
following week.
In Social Studies classes,
the students will be assigned a Maine Native American tribe to research. They will also be creating a tribal project
in the next couple of weeks.
In math, students are
learning to measure angles, in addition to working on division.
Our new theme in reading is
called “American Snapshots”. The United
States is a vast nation that we treasure for its diversity and shared heritage.
The students will be reading stories about the diversity of our nation.
We are requiring hats and
mittens to be worn at recess. If your
child does not have them, they will remain inside. If your child would like to play in the snow
or go sliding, they must also have ski pants, and boots. The school provides sleds for the students to
use; therefore they do not need to bring one from home.
