Grade 4 Newsletter

16 February 2006

MEA’s:  All students will be taking the Maine Educational Assessment during the weeks March 6 through March 24.  This is a statewide assessment.  It is important that the students are well rested and well fed.

THANK YOU: We would like to thank all parents who were able to send in treats for our Valentine parties.  We enjoyed them very much.

SOCIAL STUDIES:  A big thank you goes to the Martin and Riitano families for providing a snack from their homelands, and sharing heritage with the fourth grade. We will start our Maine Studies unit after vacation.

MATH:  After vacation, students will be learning about area and perimeter.

SCIENCE: We will be working with light and sound energy unit, as well as reviewing for the MEA’s.

WEATHER:  With the weather being as crazy as it has been, please remind students to bring mittens, hats, ski pants, boots and other warm clothing.

SWAP: The students were involved in School Wide Activity Program.  The students chose different activities to do during the morning.  Everyone enjoyed the day.

SECURITY: For the security of the students, parents are asked to check-in with the office.  Then the teachers will be notified on what will happen. For example, you come in, check in the office, Mrs. Savage or Mrs. Jones will call us and ask for the student to come down, or that you are coming up to see us.  We have had to tighten up security lately.  Thanks for your support.

We would like to wish everyone a safe and relaxing vacation!  See you 2/27/06!
