Grade 4 Newsletter
24 September 2004
v Students are doing a great job with the H (honesty), E (effort), and R (respect & responsibility) of our HERO program! The O (others) part of the program happens mostly at home and in the community. Is your child helping others? Has he/she offered to rake the neighbor’s lawn for no pay, volunteered at a community supper, participated in community fund-raisers such as Race for the Cure? If he/she has done something of this sort, where he/she has given of him/herself for no personal reward, then put it in writing with a parent’s signature, and your child will receive recognition for that at our HERO assembly at the end of the trimester!
v Fast ForWord has begun. Those students participating will not be in the regular reading classes. Therefore, they are not expected to do the assignments of those classes. They will finish Fast ForWord in about 12 weeks and rejoin reading class. Then those spelling and reading assignments will resume.
v Thanks to all who participated in the magazine drive. Congratulations to Mrs. Weymouth’s homeroom for being the top sellers in grade 4. They get to keep the pretty orangutan!
v If you signed up to receive the daily math email from Mrs. Post and are not getting it, send a note. Please include your email address written as carefully as possible. A few messages have been undeliverable each day.
v School pictures are Oct 4. Be looking for the packet soon.
v Strider Club has started. It is a walking club for 4th 5th and 6th graders every Tuesday from 3:00 to 4:30.
v First science assessment coming next week!
