Grade 4 Newsletter

October 2006
- The fourth grade honors a student who displays the
“Hero” qualities from each homeroom monthly. The following students were
honored on Thursday as our September Heroes: Brody T. Mariah P., and Paige
N.- Congratulations to all three…keep up the good work. We also honor students at the end of
each trimester in the areas of academic achievement, perfect attendance,
and community service. Vacation is a great time for students to be involved
in some form of community service. Please remember to send a note to
school if your child does participate in a community service so that they
can be honored at our assembly.
- Social Studies classes will be preparing for the school
wide student Mock Election after vacation. The election will be held
November 2nd.
- Math classes: Students each have their own set of fact
triangles - please, practice, practice, practice.
- Science classes will be finishing “Ponds and
Communities” after vacation.
- Language Arts Classes will be starting a new theme
called “Earth Patrol”. This
theme focuses on our natural world and how we need to respect and preserve
it. The book study groups will be reading fiction and non-fiction
literature based on this concept. Our first story is “The Great Yellowstone Fire”.
See if students can locate Yellowstone
National Park on a
map over vacation. Let the learning begin!
- Next week is vacation week, enjoy the break and we’ll
look forward to seeing students on Oct.16th.
