Grade 4 Newsletter

21 October 2005

ART NEWS: All fourth graders will have a logo test next week on their second day of art.  The dates are Oct. 26, 27, 28th.  The students have been instructed to write this test in their assignment notebook.  They also need to bring a styrofoam tray by Nov.7.

HOLIDAY NEWS: The Guilford Area Kiwanis is doing their annual Holiday Giving Campaign.  If you need assistance around the December holidays for items such as clothing, necessities, or play items, call:  Carrie 876-3312 or 876-3407 by November 5th.  If you would like to donate a toy or money call Carrie or drop off things at Guilford Key Bank, Guilford Rite Aid or the Guilford Library.

SCIENCE NEWS: Students need to bring a plastic jar (such as peanut butter, spaghetti sauce, or 2 liter soda bottle) for an exciting experiment!

SAFETY ALERT: Some of our girls are wearing very high-heeled shoes. Students must go up and down our stairways about eight times each day. With upcoming rainy/snowy weather these stairs become very slippery. Please consider your child’s safety in regards to footwear.

MATH NEWS: We expect to have a math assessment by the end of next week over Unit 3. Keep practicing those multiplication facts!

SOCIAL STUDIES: We’ve begun a new unit on the natural resources of the United States and Maine. If you’ve lived in other parts of our country, you might discuss how the resources are different there than here in Maine.

BLACK & ORANGE DAY: Just for fun, we’re asking students to dress in black and orange on October 31. We’ll also have a Merit Dollar Event that day!
