Grade 4 Newsletter
29 October 2004
v It was a cool fall afternoon Monday, but we enjoyed learning how to use a transit to determine planting placements for the trees at the NREC site where students will watch “their” trees grow over the next eight years.
v Mike W, Catherine W, Brandon B, and Becky B are the Leaders of the Week in the Multiplication Mastery Marathon. Well done!
v What a sea of black and orange fourth and fifth graders today!
v Today we met to honor September and October Heroes. Every month a student from each home room who has displayed the characteristics of our HERO program is awarded for his/her good citizenship at PCMS. Congratulations to September awardees: Jessica B, Abi R, and Becky B and October awardees: Emily Northup, Will C, and Cory G for setting such fine examples!
v Students enjoyed our Merit Dollar Event this morning. Garfield, popcorn, and apple juice provided a fun break from regular classroom lessons.
v On Tuesday our school participated in the statewide Mock Election program. According to our election results Mr. Bush will remain as President and Mr. Michaud remains in Congress.
v We’ve had fun writing and sharing our Halloween stories this week.
v In math students will be taking the Unit 3 assessment next week. Look for a review sheet to come home. It will have questions similar to the test. Help your child practice these so he/she will be confident at test time.
v We’re continuing the Earth Patrol theme in language arts. Talk with your children about ways that you reduce, reuse, and recycle at home.
v Remember to return the blue Student-Led Conference forms ASAP. We’re looking forward to the children sharing their work with you.
v The first trimester ends Dec 3, and soon after we will be honoring students who made the Honor Roll, had perfect attendance, and/or performed a community service. Remember to write a note about that community service, then have your child or you deliver it to the office before Dec 3 in order to qualify for that award.
REMEMBER TO VOTE ON TUESDAY!
