November 2006
- Our
Veteran’s Day presentation will be held next Thursday at 1:00 PM. All area
veterans are invited to attend. Please call the school at 876-4301 to
reserve a seat.
- Math
classes will begin a unit on decimals next week. Help your child find
examples of decimals in real life, such as newspapers, magazine articles,
etc.
- Language
arts classes will continue our study of protecting the earth throughout
the month of November. Has your family had a discussion of how to reduce, reuse,
and recycle to help in protecting our resources?
- Students
enjoyed participating in the mock election. Ask you child what our results
were. Next week help your child compare them to the actual election
results. Many thanks to Senator Paul Davis for visiting PCMS and sharing
ideas on the importance of voting.
- In
social studies classes we will begin learning about the three branches of
government: legislative, judicial, and executive.
- A
reminder for science that students are asked to find articles on pollution,
landfills, recycling, or other environmental issues and bring them to
class.
- Computers
have finally arrived in grade 4, and we’ve just had our first hands-on
computer lesson!
- October
HEROes were announced this week. They are:
Hannah G, Grace R, and Whitney K. Congratulations on being fine role
models!
- Remember:
Student-led conferences are scheduled for November 13 and 14. At PCMS
these are held differently than at the elementary level. Your child will
be the leader of the conference. It will be his/her responsibility to
share his/her work with you and discuss strengths and weaknesses. Your
child’s teachers will join you during this time to address any questions
you may have. There may be 3 or 4 conferences going on at one time in the
classroom so please do not hesitate to enter the room at your scheduled
appointment time. Teachers are looking forward to seeing you!
- There
will be no school Friday, November 10 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Also
November 17 is an early release day followed by a week break for the
Thanksgiving holiday.
