November 2006
- Remember: Student-led
conferences will be next week. You should have received a bright green
half sheet of paper with your appointment time. At PCMS conferences are
held differently than at the elementary level. Your child will be the
leader of the conference. It will be his/her responsibility to share
his/her work with you and discuss strengths and weaknesses. Your child’s
teachers will join you during this time to address any questions you may
have. There may be 3 or 4 conferences going on at one time in the
classroom so please do not hesitate to enter the room at your scheduled
appointment time. Teachers are looking forward to seeing you!
- There will be no school
Friday, November 10 in observance of Veteran’s Day. Also November 17 is an
early release day followed by a week break for the Thanksgiving holiday.
- Has your child told you
about the chance to earn a “No Study Link Pass”? The students found out
about this in math class this week. Check with your child to see what it’s
all about!
- We’ve been reading some
great environmental books. One very popular author is Jean Craighead
George. You and your child might check out the town library or Mr.
Paperback for some of her books.
- In social studies
students have enjoyed following and learning about the election process as
they continue studying the three branches of government.
- Many students are
bringing in notes about their community service. It’s wonderful to see
them involved in helping others! (You have until Dec.1 to be recognized in
the first trimester assembly.)
- Be careful about
children playing outside during the remainder of hunting season. Know
where your children are and have them wear some orange as well.
