Missing News – The “News” editor was buried in snow last week so there was no newsletter. We will try to get caught up this week.
Spelling Bee – On Monday, February 14, Mrs. Titcomb conducted the sixth grade spelldown in preparation for the school wide spelling bee on Wednesday. The list of ten students below competed with the seventh and eighth grade students.
1. Alicia S. 6. Troy V.
2. Ciara O. 7. Faith H.
3. Joseph P. 8. Philip W.
4. Michael E. 9. Sheila M.
5. Samantha B. 10. Felicia F.
And the winners are – Sixth grade students took home most of the marbles in the PCMS spelling bee. All ten of our sixth grade students did well at the spelling bee on Wednesday this week, but we can not send them all to the county spelling bee. Sheila M. is the school runner-up and will go to Milo for the county bee. Felicia F. is the sixth grade top speller and the PCMS top speller. She will also go to the county bee in Milo on Friday, March the 11th. We are very proud of the girls and invite all students and parents to support them at the next level.
Move and Improve, a statewide program for adults and children who want to increase their physical activity and improve their health, is starting up on March 6. Everyone who wishes to be involved must participate in physical activity for 30 minutes a day 4 days a week for 8 to 12 weeks. Look for more about this after vacation. This is a chance for all of us to get more active; maybe win some prizes, and earn some money for our school. Adults may register at www.moveandimprove.org. Children will sign up at school.
LET’S DO THIS TOGETHER!
Math Test Frozen Out - Due to the snow days, the schedule for the unit 5 math test has been set back one week. It was initially scheduled for March 4, but it now will be booked the following week. Wow, we have one extra week to think about it.
Vacation – The coming week, February 21st through the 25th, is a break from school. We trust all students will relax and enjoy the winter snow. We want everyone to play safe and come back to school well rested and without injuries.
Cheerful thought – The Red Sox will soon begin spring training. Isn’t life grand?
