Spelling Bee – We have two sixth grade students attending the county spelling bee in Milo. Jessica Fortier and Sheila McEwen will be in the Milo Town Hall on Friday, March 11, at 5:30 PM. Family and friends, as well as students, are encouraged to attend and give their support.
The Greek Final - Yes, it looks strange, but your student should be able to tell you that it means “The Greek Final”. On Monday, March 7, sixth grade students will be taking the final exam for Greek studies. Most are well prepared and will be taking notes home this weekend. Parents can help by asking about the notebooks and asking about its contents.
The Tree Cards Are Done – Mrs. Titcomb’s science classes have finished the popular tree card project. The cards are on display on the upstairs bulletin board, and parents are invited to come and see their child’s work.
The Math Test – The long awaited math test, postponed by snow days, is upon us. It is scheduled for the 9th and 10th of March depending on the student’s homeroom.
Second Trimester Ends - The second trimester comes to a close on Friday, March 11. Students who are behind in their assignments need to take steps to get caught up. Parents can look for trimester reports during the following week. Time is really flying this year.
“Brother, Can You Spare Me A Dime?” – Sixth grade homerooms are competing in a dime challenge to raise the final funds for the Quebec trip. If students have spare dimes lying around, they may bring them to their homerooms and fill the jar.
Last Day – Because we have had four snow days, the last day of school is now June 17. Pray we have no more snow days. School in July is not a good prospect.
Early Release – March 18th is an early release day for students. Families should plan accordingly.
Move and Improve, a statewide program for adults and children who want to increase their physical activity and improve their health, is starting up on March 6. Everyone who wishes to be involved must participate in physical activity for 30 minutes a day 4 days a week for 8 to 12 weeks. This is a chance for all of us to get more active; maybe win some prizes, and earn some money for our school. Adults may register at www.moveandimprove.org. Children will sign up at school.
