SPELLING BEE RESULTS
The school Spelling Bee was held at PCMS on Wednesday, February 26. We were very proud to have three sixth graders in the finals.
We could only send the top three to the County Bee. It takes a lot of guts to get up in front of an audience. One student lost out on the word "extension". One student made it through round six, then lost out on "deerstalker". This student was in fourth place. One student held on through fifteen rounds and lost out on "doleful", she finished in second place. The State Spelling Bee will be held on March 22. In the event the winner, Daniel Jackson, an eighth grader from SeDoMoCha can't go, our student who finished second will be asked to go in his place.
FRENCH
Mrs. Leavitt's French III students will be coming up once a week to teach our sixth graders basic French. We thought this might help them recognize signs, identify businesses, be able to order off a McDonald's menu. Mrs. Leavitt explained to us that it takes six years of lessons to become fluent in a foreign language, but this taste will give us some insight. We are excited about having the opportunity to have the high-school kids come back to PCMS and give back to our students.
