Grade Six Newsletter

September 14, 2007

OPEN HOUSE – The date for our open house is September 19, Wednesday between 6:30 and 7:30 PM.  Please come and visit the classrooms. We always have a great time greeting parents. Grade six is to the left of the library as you come up the stairs.

FIELD TRIP – Grade six students will be going on a trip to the Williamsburg Demonstration Forest. There is much to learn as instructors discuss various trees, soils, and wildlife we can expect to find in the Maine woods. This trip supports our science and reading programs. The trip is scheduled for September 21, Friday.

Students should be prepared for the weather, dressing accordingly. They may select a school bag lunch, or they may bring one from home. All students will be back in time for sports and regular busing.

HELP – We need a few great parents to round out our field trip escourts. If you would like to volunteer for an exciting day in the woods with a band of super youngsters call any sixth grade teacher at 876-4301, and we will make arrangements for you.

PARENT TIP – Grade six social studies students begin a “trip” to ancient Mesopotamia next week. Beware of strange names and cultural ideas. Students are NOT supposed to practice these ideas on family members – especially younger siblings.

Health – “Personal Inventory” – Students are assessing their current state of health to identify area(s) that need improvement. Each student will then establish a goal to help change behaviors.
