October 1, 2004 P.C.M.S
SMILE – Monday is school photo day. Students should bring their order forms with them, and present them to the photographer.
QUEBEC CITY – Yes, it’s time already to be planning for the trip to Quebec City in June. Much will need to be done in the way of fund raising and preparation; therefore, we have set a meeting for Thursday, October 7, 2004. We will gather in Mr. Savage’s room, 253, at 6:30 PM.
THE CLIMB – This year’s trip to Borestone Mountain was a great success. The weather was perfect, and the visibility at East Peak was unlimited. Students had a great climb and learned some facts about their neighboring forestland. The climb helps students make a connection between the current reading theme, which is survival, and the reality of the natural environment that requires careful consideration for safety. The students conducted themselves very well both in climbing and taking care of the wildlife area as they hiked. Teachers are very proud of our group.
NEW LANDS – Social Studies students have begun a new unit of study. We will be looking at the ancient history of the Near East, which includes Iraq. Be prepared to hear new terms such as Hammurabi, Babylon, Fertile Crescent, and so forth.
HEALTH CLASS – Mrs. Alan will be introducing to students the skeletal system – very appropriate for this time of year.
DOWN THE ROAD –The district 5 music festival will be on November 5. Conferences are scheduled for the week of November 15. Watch the newsletter for more details.
