Grade Six Newsletter

October 19, 2007

MID-TERMS – Parents can expect to see grade reports in the mail soon. If there are any questions about the grades parents should first contact the teacher concerned. You may call or e-mail any 6th grade teacher. We can also set a time for a face-to-face visit if needed.

DANCE/FUN NIGHT – Sixth grade students will experience their first Òfun nightÓ at school on Friday, October 26. They have heard the conditions for attending while here at school, but it is always helpful when parents reinforce good conduct rules. There will be an open gym for basketball as well as the dance in the cafeteria. DONÕT FORGET, The letter signed by students has some incorrect times. The Social begins at 6:30. Students should not be at school before 6:15. It ends at 9:00, so parents should be at school to pick up their child by 8:55.

SCIENCE – The famous ÒTree UnitÓ has begun. Students research a wide variety of trees in our region and produce a pamphlet of facts for their selected species.

MATH – Geometric shapes are on the menu in math class beginning next week. Poly and all the others gons, triangles, quadrilaterals, and the ever-mysterious trapezoid will be examined for their angles and shapes

PARENT TIP – Weather is cooler now. Students will need to wear long sleeve clothing at recess during most days. For their protection, we may keep them in when not properly attired.
