“LET’S DO TURKEYS” – This second annual 6th grade Thanksgiving turkey giving begins Monday, November 8. Students bring in loose change (no folding money) they would like to contribute. The change goes into their homeroom jar. On the 19th of November we will gather each homeroom’s change and use it to buy as many turkeys as possible. These turkeys will be donated to local families that may not have the resources to purchase their own. Of course, there is always an interest in which homeroom fills their jar first.
FUNDRAISER – If you have any orders for the 6th grade fundraiser, please send them in to your child’s homeroom teacher. If there are any questions about the program, you may call Nancy Nadeau at 876-2706 or Cindy Fortier at 876-3628. They are your contacts.
VETERANS’ DAY – Thursday is Veterans’ Day. Students will not be in school. Enjoy the short break, and if you have a veteran in your family, give them a hug of thanks.
READING FOR OTHERS – The 6th grade students, in conjunction with Scholastic Book Club, are reading books and keeping a record. When students in a homeroom have read and recorded 100 books, Scholastic will give 100 books to less fortunate youngsters who may never have a book of their own. The project, “Our Classroom Cares”, is off to a great start. Keep on reading.
CONFERENCE NOTE – It is the policy of the 6th grade team that if any parent cannot meet during the normal conference times that we will make adjustments that fit your schedule. It is our desire that each family has a period of time to discuss the student’s progress in school.
DOWN THE ROAD –The Conferences are scheduled for the week of November 15. Watch the newsletter for more details.
