The year is beginning to wind down, but eighth graders will be very busy until the very end of the year.  We have compiled a list of upcoming dates for you to post in your home, so you will all be aware of happenings at school.  We will also send home more newsletters as needed.

 

Upcoming Events for Grade 8

 

May 4 – May 9:  Math Tests for high school placement

 

May 9 – May 12:  STAR testing in math and reading to check on progress in each area

 

May 10:  trip to Newport Entertainment Center – no charge for bowling and billiards, will need a bag lunch from home, a bag lunch from school or money to buy lunch there – Optional - money to play in the arcade

 

May 17:  Internet Safety Presentations for students during the day and parents in the evening (SEE THE ATTACHED LETTER FROM MR. POLAND)

 

May 22 – May 23:  FREE Sports Physicals for any student who returns their permission form (all students entering the high school who wish to play sports MUST have a physical) FREE is certainly better than paying for one yourself.

 

May 25 – Move up Day – 8th graders will have a partial day orientation to the high school

 

June 7 or 8:  Spring Concert – the last middle school concert for our 8th grade band and chorus members

 

June 12 (rain date June 13):  field day/barbecue at the Guilford town fields

 

June 14 (rain date June 15):  Peaks Kenny – Yea, a day at the beach!!!

 

June 16:  Last day of school (full day)
