Sixth Graders Uncover Treasures

By PCHS Seniors

On September 1st sixth grade homeroom 6-1 students at PCMS got to dig up the lawn right under the PCMS Principal’s window! Actually Mr. Bellemare supported partial destruction of the lawn. The students were after treasures buried there six years ago by this year’s senior class at the high school.

The sixth graders made short work of the hole and found the time-capsule two feet down lying against the school’s foundation. All concerned were excited to find the sealed container intact and dry. Plans were made to return the capsule’s contents to its owners.

On September 18th the sixth graders returned the items to the seniors in a special assembly arranged by Mr. Chasse, PCHS Principal. Seniors were surprised, and when the capsule was opened for the first time in six years, excitement fill the gym as long lost treasures were recognized and reclaimed.

Both classes learned lessons in history, fidelity, and archeology as they shared in this great project.
