BOARD OF DIRECTORS MEETING MINUTES

Directors Present: Laura Auger, Deborah Clukey, Brad Coburn, Karol Curtis, Patricia Davis, Larry Davis, Melissa Douglass, Ralph Eastman, Pam Goulette, Anita Kain, Lorna Marshall, Susan McAvoy, George Nuite, Geraldine Rizzitello, James Wachter and Phyllis Watson.


Members Absent:
Patricia Izbicki

Also Present: Bruce Lindberg, Sara Alberts, Greg Bellemare, Crystal Priest and Matthew Oliver


Call to Order:
The meeting was called to order by Larry Davis at 7:00 P.M.


Approval of Minutes:


A motion was made by Geraldine Rizzitello and seconded by Lorna Marshall that the minutes of the December 10, 2002 Board Meeting be approved as printed.

Public Forum:
Mrs. Pratley discussed and recommended a PCHS Girl's Soccer Program to the Board.


Educational Report:


**Demonstration of students' technology integration work at PCHS
**Introduction of new employees from PCHS

2. School Bus Purchase for 2003-2004:

There was a motion made by Brad Coburn and seconded by Pam Goulette that the Board of Directors authorize the Superintendent to purchase a school bus for the FY Î2004 school year funded by FY' 2004 budget.

Student and Personnel Relations Committee: Lorna Marshall, Chair

Overview of PHEC in Dover
*Talked about possible directions of SAD #4 Adult Education Program.


4. Administrative Reports:

 

Crystal Priest (Technology Coordinator):

*Documentary of 1:1 MLTI initiative: PBS - February 16 at 9:30 am and 4 pm & February 18 at 3 pm
*Piloting student/parent access to Powergrade

Greg Bellemare (PCMS Principal):


*Holiday concert packed the PCMS cafeteria.
*PCMS students conducted many public service events in and around the holidays (i.e. 100 coats
collected for the coats Program.
*5th and 6th Graders had CMP do the "Electricity" Program.
*DARE for 5th Graders is starting.
*PCHS/PCMS French Tutoring Program will begin shortly.

Sara Alberts (Elementary Principal and Special Services Director):


*K-3 Holiday Concert was extremely well attended. This shows tremendous community support.
*Homework Club (arts, crafts, cooking, sports activities) will be starting soon.
*"STAR LAB" is coming to McKusick and Guilford Primary as an astronomy event.
*Renowned Maine author (Lynn Plourd) will work with elementary children at GPS and McKusick (funded by HUGS). We are VERY thankful with their efforts to support students with enrichment activities.

Bruce Lindberg (Principal, PCHS):


*Very well attended Holiday Concert with K-3 and 9-12 students performing (including chorus,
band and guitar)
*College acceptances are rolling in.
*Adult Education ITV classes have started.
*ITV numbers are very good with many first time ITV users. We have added U.S. History and
English to the courses being offered.
*M.S.A.D. #4 Adult Education is also offering College Algebra and College Biology.

*Demonstrated parent and student access to Powerschool·. a wonderful communication tool.

*Reviewed state mandated comprehensive plans.

*Presented a status report of where we're at with our standards-based assessment system.

 

7. Yearly Evaluation of PCHS Principal:

 

There was a motion made by Pam Goulette and seconded by Geraldine Rizzitello that the Board of Directors enters executive session for the purpose of evaluating the PCHS Principal.

There was a motion made by Pam Goulette and seconded by Anita Kain to extend the PCHS Principal's Contract until June of 2006.

There was a motion made by Phyllis Watson and seconded by Pam Goulette that the meeting be adjourned at 9:25 P.M.
