Members Present: Laura Auger, James Bell, Paul Bridge, Larry Davis, Patricia Davis, Melissa Douglass (late), Pam Goulette, Nancy Hall, Patricia Izbicki, Anita Kain, Donna Littlefield, Susan McAvoy, Raymond Morse, George Nuite (late) and Michelle Ward.
Members Absent: Ralph Eastman, Lorna Marshall & Phyllis Watson
Also Present: Kevin Jordan, Greg Bellemare, Trisha Kurt, Crystal Priest and Paul Stearns.
Call to Order: The meeting was called to order by Pamela Goulette, Vice Chairman, at 7:02 P.M.
Approval of Minutes: A motion was made by Patricia Davis and seconded by James Bell that the minutes of the August 10, 2004 Board of Directors Meeting be approved as printed.

Educational Reports: Jolane Clawson and Crystal Priest facilitated a powerpoint presentation on Fast Forword, a cognitive therapy software program.
1. Adjustments to Agenda:
Add Item #1a –Yearbook Advertisement & Add Item #1b – Create a new position
1a. Yearbook Advertisement:
A motion was made by Patricia Davis and seconded by James Bell that the Board of Directors sponsors a full page advertisement in the amount of $200.00 in the PCHS 2005 yearbook.

1b. Create a New Position:
A motion was made by Pamela Goulette and seconded by Susan McAvoy that the Board of Directors creates a new Education Technician IA (special education) position for PCMS.

2. Designation of Special Reserve Account:
A motion was made by Pamela Goulette and seconded by Patricia Izbicki that the Board of Directors designates carryover funds from the Samuel Grant for fiscal year 2003-04 to be placed in a special reserve account for fiscal year 2004-05.

3. Nominations:
A motion was made by Patricia Izbicki and seconded by Nancy Hall that the Board of Directors approves the following nomination:

4. Recommendation to Employ:
A motion was made by Pamela Goulette and seconded by Patricia Davis that the Board of Directors approves the following recommendation to employ for the 2004-2005 school year (one year contract):
· Lisa Richardson – “B” Field Hockey Coach (PCMS)

A motion was made by Susan McAvoy and seconded by James Bell that the Board of Directors accepts the following resignations:

6. Committee Reports:
Building & Grounds: Patricia Davis reported that the committee met September 7th. Facilities contract awarded to James Sewell for .05 per square foot. The committee toured PCMS & PCHS. Patty gave an update of several projects around the district.
7. Administrative Reports:
Crystal Priest (Technology Coordinator):
· Busy with several initiatives
· Parent Meetings
· Laptop Rollouts
· MEDMS
· CLC Grant Work
Greg Bellemare (PCMS Principal):
· Successful opening of the 04-05 school year
· Total of 32 new students enrolled in the middle school, 17 withdrew.
· Very successful Summer School Program & Title I Summer Academy
· QSP Magazine fundraiser started on 9-10 and will finish on 9-20.
· 4th grade teachers held an open house before school started for parents/students.
· All grade levels have held parent nights.
· Response to Fastforward program has been very positive
· Mrs. Titcomb was selected as science teacher of the year by the Piscataquis Soil and Conservation Department.
· Fall sports are off to a successful start.
· 6th grade students will be traveling to Borestone on 9-24
· Computer rollout for 7th & 8th grade students
· New schedule is working well for students and teachers.
· District V music festival Nov. 5
· Nutrition task force starting up
· Wellness team going strong.

Kevin Jordan (PCHS Principal):
· Opening of school went very well, 304 students as of today, ended last year at 275
· Accreditation- the staff is working on the required two year follow up.
· Laptops will be going out on Friday the 17th to those students who are paid in full and have a parent who has attended one of the orientation meetings
· Advisor/Advisee program- theory and 6 staff developed priorities. 28 groups meeting every day for 20 minutes
· Fall Athletics – girl’s soccer had their first ever win last night over Schenck 2-1.
· Homecoming Festivities start Friday Oct. 1 with the parade at 6:00 pm.
· Mr. Luchnin - Career Prep Teacher will be meeting with all freshmen once a week.
Trisha Kurt (Elementary Principal/Sp. Ed. Director):
· Fast ForWord will be starting on September 27th for grades K-3. Turnout has been incredible:
1st grade 60 out of 64 - 94% participation rate
2nd grade 51 out of 53 - 96% participation rate
3rd grade 57 out of 60 - 95% participation rate● K-3 will be going to Lakewood Theatre on September 24th to see Snow White, The Evil Queens and the Three Slobs
● K-3 had open house last Thursday. There was a nice turnout and Paul, Jolane and Crystal did Fo rWord demonstration for all parents to see.
● K-3 is just finishing up with the book fair. Each school gets 25% of total sales. This is a nice fundraiser for the school.
● 1st week in October is Fire Safety Week: Guilford and Sangerville fire departments will be coming to visit the elementary schools.
8. Chairperson’s Report:
· George Nuite reported that the MSMA Fall Workshops will be in October
· Palesky Initiative Resolution – looking for feedback as to whether or not board members feel that this should be placed on a future agenda.
9. Superintendent’s Report:
