The Life of a Knight
hen a boy is born by a knight, their training begins at the age of 6-7. They have a series of steps to go through before they can become a knight. The first step to go through is becoming a page. As a page I would start training at the age of 6 or 7. I worked for a lord or a king in the nearest castle to their family.
He would help the lord or king get dressed in his armor in the morning and plays games to train him like sword fighting with a blunt wooden sword and tiny round shields, also known as bucklers.
The next step is to become a squire. A squire works for a knight and begins at the age of 14. This is where the real training begins! We learn to use lances and heavy armor while training as a squire! While I was a squire I was allowed to wear a sword and a shield to show what rank I had achieved.
At the age of 21 I will become a knight if I do well as a squire. That’s when I will work for the king/queen or lord, and start my quests and adventures!!
