Web Site Set Up

1. Create an Inspiration web that shows the layout of your web site. Include links from your main page to other pages in your web site. This document should also contain information about what will be on each page.

2. Create an icon about 1" x 1" that will be used at each "home" site to link to your site. Once you have created this icon, scan it and save it as a JPEG image. This image will need to be emailed to your teacher along with the buildings that you want it to be linked in and the name of your web site folder.

3. Create a folder on your desktop. This is the folder for your entire website. This folder must have a 1 word name, all lower case and the name cannot include any weird characters.

4. Inside this folder create another folder. This folder needs to be named images. All the graphics for your website need to go into your images folder. All graphics must have 1 word file names and include the file type. File types include .jpg or .gif or .png.

5. Your main webpage has to be named index.html and needs to be saved inside of your folder. You will be using Dreamweaver to create this file and all other web pages.

6. As you add other pages to your web site, you can name them whatever you want. BUT, all document names must be 1 word names, all lower case and the name cannot include any weird characters. All web page names must end in .html.

7. When you are all done with your web site and all links are active, you will need to have the whole folder loaded onto the web site. This step must be done by your teacher.

8. At some point you will need to link each of your pages to the various pages on the main website. The links that you need to use are listed below. You should copy the links from this page and paste them into your web page.
