I recently read in the Bangor Daily News about the mentoring project your students have undertaken at the McKusick Elementary School. Their commitment to community service is both inspiring and commendable.

After her long career in the United States Congress, Margaret Chase Smith devoted much of her time to instilling the value of service in young people. To carry on this important legacy and promote this vital lesson, I would like to make the following offer. If you and your students will come to the Margaret Chase Smith Library and tell us about the project, we will provide $200 to support its continuation.
