SAD #4 Staff Members Rich and Priest win SEED Developer Award

The director of SEED (Spreading Educator to Educator Developments) recently informed me of the following:

"I am pleased to inform you that educators in your district, Crystal Priest and Robyn Rich, have been selected as Developers in SEED, Maine's educator to educator network, for their unit of study, Storytelling Through Clay Animation. SEED identifies and rewards teachers ($1000 reward) who have developed innovative ways of using technology to achieve Maine's Learning Results. Of the 143 applications received, only 59 were selected. Robyn's and Crystal's innovation and creativity led to their selection.

SEED rewards Developers for sharing practices that demonstrate how to achieve the Learning Results through the use of computer and information technology. These teacher-developed practices will be published on the web for the use of teachers around the world. Maine teachers can then also apply in the Spring of 2002 for Adaptor awards to try these practices in their own classrooms. SEED is part of The Teachers Network, a national organization that provides ways for educators to learn with and from each other.

SEED cultivates great ideas that work in the classroom. Developers benefit from seeing their work has value for others. Adaptors benefit by learning new, effective strategies, and students benefit from practices that produce results." The following link will take you to the previous 50 developer educational experiences that are aligned to the Maine Learning Results. http://seed.mainecenter.org/index.cfm?section=13&page=ArchiveSummary.html

Congratulations Robyn and Crystal!

Sincerely, Matthew Oliver
